Sleeping Giant's Annual BioBlitz July 25, 2020 July 25, 2020 Various Locations in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park

Join us in taking part in Sleeping Giant’s Annual BioBlitz!  A BioBlitz is an event where volunteers and naturalists attempt to identify every natural living thing in a defined area over a defined period of time, usually 24 hours or less. A BioBlitz allows us to understand the biodiversity of our Park and collect data, which we can then utilize to track changes and trends in their populations. Campers, volunteers and naturalists of all ages are invited to try and identify everything within the Park between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm, primarily through photographing and the uploading of photos to the online database iNaturalist.ca. The workshops are drop-in style, so you can come and go as you please. Volunteers should bring a bagged lunch, plenty of water, a hat, and sunscreen. If you’ve got identification field guides and a net, those would be useful to bring as well. If not, we have some available to loan. Stay tuned for an event schedule in the Spring.
