Lake Travers Road Repair

Due to road work, Lake Travers Road will be closed to vehicle traffic past km 66 starting at 7:00 am on Tuesday, July 16th and re-opening on Wednesday, July 17th at 7:00 p.m. Therefore, there will be no access to Lake Travers Access Point, White Partridge Cart Trail or Eustache Lake during this time. This also applies to anyone planning to end their trip at Lake Travers. Anyone with reservations impacted by this road closure will be contacted by Park staff. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Forest Management log hauling on the Opeongo Lake Rd.

Logging trucks will be travelling on Opeongo Lake Rd, from Highway 60 to Cameron Lake Road which is approximately 3 km in length. The hauling will be occurring Mon-Fri, from early-July to late October. Park visitors may encounter log trucks on this section of the road and will see lower speed limits posted during this time period. Please drive with caution.

Parking for the Highland Backpacking trail has been temporarily moved to the Old Railway Bike Trail parking lot in the Mew Lake Campground.

Access Point 25 – Wendigo Lake: 4-wheel drive access only or 1km portage to access point.

The fourth loop of the Minnesing Mountain Bike Trail (Callighen's Corners Loop) is currently closed.

Boil Water Details:
Please be advised that the Lake of Two Rivers is under a boil water advisory and the Mew Lake Campground is under a boil water advisory, except for the Mew Lake Comfort Station which has safe potable water, but all of the other taps in the campground are still under the boil water advisory.

A “boil water” advisory means that water used for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, reconstituting fruit juice and infant formula, and washing fruits, vegetables, and dishes should be brought to a rolling boil it for at least one minute. Alternatively, you may prefer to use commercially bottled water or access water at other campgrounds within Algonquin Provincial Park.

Boiling water for at least one FULL minute will kill any harmful microorganisms that may be present in the water.

We are pleased to inform you that Arrow Lake Provincial Park will be added to the Ontario Parks reservation service for the 2020 operating season. This means you will be able to make a camping reservation online or by phone. You can make your reservation for the 2020 camping season up to 5-months in advance of your arrival date. For example, you can reserve on December 15, 2019 for an arrival date of May 15, 2020.

Notice to all Dog Owners

The leash free trails at Bronte Creek Provincial Park are very popular.

In recent years Ontario Parks has observed situations and received numerous complaints from dog owners and other park users about uncontrolled dogs off leash.

In the interest of public safety and to ensure the enjoyment of the park for all park users and local wildlife, Ontario Parks is giving notice that:

As of July 5, 2019 dog owners will be limited to a maximum of two dogs off-leash per owner within the designated off-leash areas within the park.

All dogs outside the leash free areas are always required to be leashed.

As a reminder you are required to keep your dog under control at all times within the park.

Leash free areas for dogs are also provided by the cities of Burlington and Oakville.

Accessing the hibernaculum in this park, especially during the winter months, is strictly prohibited.

Fire Ban Details:

The Forks of the Credit provincial park Mill site viewing platform is temporarily closed. Ontario Parks is currently reviewing options for the replacement of the platform.

To view the falls, travel along the Meadow Trail until it intersects with the Bruce Trail. Follow Bruce Trail west until it intersects the Dominion Trail. Go north until it ends at the closure. Be advised you will be required to return the same way.

Campsite Closures:

- Effective April 26th, 2019 camping is not permitted at the campsites located within the area of French River Provincial Park that was affected by forest fire activity in 2018 (PAR033). This area includes campsite numbers 910, 911, 912, 913, 914, 915, 916, 917, 926, 925, 929, 930. Camping at these campsites or areas within the former fire perimeter is strictly prohibited for park users. This restriction will ensure the safety of park users due to the hazards presented as a result of the fire.

- All other areas of French River Provincial are open to the public.

1. The former Liskeard Lumber Road in Gamble Township at the Elissa Creek crossing is temporarily closed to vehicular travel. This washout prevents vehicles from safely accessing the Gamble Lake and Chance Lake access zones on the North Lady Evelyn River. Alternative access to the North Lady Evelyn River is available at the Weedend Lake portage immediately west of the Trethewey Trail access zone. This section of road will remain closed until further notice.

Due to recent heavy rain resulting in localized flooding, Long Point Provincial Park is temporarily closed to camping with an anticipated reopening of August 16th, 2019. Public safety and protecting park infrastructure is our main priority. Park staff are monitoring conditions daily and we will reopen the park as soon as it’s safe to do so. The local Medical Officer of Health has issued a boil water advisory. Elevated bacterial counts in the water may pose a health risk to consumers. Users are advised to boil for one minute all water used for drinking, food preparation and dental care.

If your planned route includes Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, please note the following exceptions:

No swimming area is available at Mark S. Burnham. This is a day use park with a picnic area and 1.8km loop trail. Enjoy a hike through the majestic old growth forest showcasing a large canopy of Eastern Hemlock and Sugar Maple.
