Algonquin Provincial Park - Brent Campground

Brent has 30 campsites and a combination of new compost and vault toilets, but no shower or laundry facilities. This campground can accommodate recreational vehicles but there is no electricity available. A number of campsites have direct waterfront access.

Brent Deputy Ranger Cabin was built as an ice house in the 1930s but was eventually converted to the Deputy Chief Ranger’s home in Brent. The original cabin was completely restored and visitors now enjoy a one room open-concept log cabin with an incredible view looking east on Cedar Lake.

Accessible by vehicle, One room open concept, Bunk bed – double bunk on bottom, single on top (vinyl-covered mattresses), Table and 2 chairs, Couch and chair, Fire extinguisher, Propane heat (propane supplied), Solar-powered lighting, BBQ (propane supplied), Propane stove-top, propane refrigerator, Vault toilets nearby, Drinking water in nearby campground, Fire pit available, Wash basin, metal pail, Shovel, broom and dustpan.

Please note there is no running water, indoor bathrooms or electricity and no cell phone reception.

What to Bring

Sleeping bags, linen, personal toiletries, pots and pans, utensils, flashlight, lantern, matches, food.

Restrictions

Domestic animals (pets) are not permitted in the facility or on site. Smoking is prohibited in all facilities. Tents are not permitted to be set up outside of the cabin.

Available at cabin. Parking for 1 vehicle is included in the rental fee. All additional vehicles require an additional vehicle permit.

Check in process

Stop in at the Brent Permit Office located 200m off of Hwy 17 on the Brent Road to pick up your key. If you arrive late or after the office has closed, the cabin will be left unlocked and the key will either be inside the cabin on the table, or a Park Staff will deliver it the following morning. You may want to pre-order firewood at the Brent Office and have it delivered to your cabin, as it is cash only once you are in the campground.

Brent Cabin is located on a peninsula jutting out from the north shore of Cedar Lake. Construction of the Brent Deputy Chief Ranger’s headquarters was begun in 1932. This large cabin has four bedrooms (the bunks include mattresses), a living room with a woodstove in a stone fireplace, and a kitchen.

Amenities

Modern conveniences include a propane stove and fridge (propane provided) and solar lights. Vault toilets are a short walk away. All cabins are equipped with fire extinguishers, wash basin, metal pail, shovel, broom, dust pan, bunks (vinyl covered mattresses), table and chairs. There is drinking water available from the adjacent campground.
