Park Advisories

1 Sturgeon River Provincial Park is open.

If your planned route includes Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, please note the following exceptions:

1. All campsites on the east shore of Makobe Lake and Banks Lake, as well as campsites on Grays Lake are temporarily closed. Portages from Banks Lake to Grays Lake and from Makobe Lake to Grays River are temporarily closed. These closures are in place to protect the public and ensure public safety while allowing Ontario Parks personnel to safely restore campsites and portages impacted by a 2018 forest fire. These campsites and portages will remain closed until further notice.

2. The former Liskeard Lumber Road in Gamble Township at the Elissa Creek crossing is temporarily closed to vehicular travel. This washout prevents vehicles from safely accessing the Gamble Lake and Chance Lake access zones on the North Lady Evelyn River. Alternative access to the North Lady Evelyn River is available at the Weedend Lake portage immediately west of the Trethewey Trail access zone. This section of road will remain closed until further notice.
