Algonquin - Lake of Two Rivers

The Whiskey Rapids Trail is closed for the season. 


Blue-green Algae Bloom on Lake Opeongo. The blooms are localized, see below for details. 

Site 1: Small bay at portage leading into Proulx Lake

  • Bright green algae present
  • Spread throughout the small bay and flowing out into Lake Opeongo

 

Site 2: Shoreline directly south of portage leading into Wright Lake (towards Dickson Lake)

  • Bright green algae present up against shoreline in very shallow water
  • Extends for more than 150 m along shoreline adjacent to at least 4 campsites

The Rock Lake and Arowhon Roads are now closed to public travel. In order to protect public safety and infrastructure (i.e. avoid rutting the road in spring thaw, etc) locked gates are being installed near the Hwy 60 entrance of these roads.
