If you’d like to be part of a fun and energetic team, try working in maintenance with Ontario Parks! The maintenance team works together to make sure the entire park runs smoothly and they get to work outside!
As a part of the maintenance team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills. According to Robert Wires, the Maintenance Foreman at Balsam Lake Provincial Park, there is no typical day in maintenance at Ontario Parks. You could work on just about anything, from campsites to comfort stations, and taking care of road repairs and electricity problems.
The students who have worked in maintenance in the past have found this job to be very rewarding, and those who Robert works with often stay at the park after work hours. “A lot of times they will sit here and talk about their day for a little while,” Robert explains. This job provides students with a challenging atmosphere, where they can showcase their leadership abilities and problem solving skills.
