We all know that summer has been a little late arriving this year and has put a damper on family vacation plans, but regardless of the delay, Sibbald Point Provincial Park is offering swimming lessons!
This summer, Ontario Parks and Red Cross, have teamed up to educate the public on water safety to continue to reduce the number of water related injuries and fatalities. After six decades of training and educating Canadians, Red Cross is proud to announce that the drowning rate in Canada has decreased significantly.[photopress:girlwater_thumb1.jpg,full,alignright]
To continue water safety education, Sibbald Point is offering swimming lessons, provided by certified Red Cross instructors in cooperation with the Town of Georgina, Aquatics program at Georgina Leisure Pool. It is important to know that learning to swim is not enough to prevent a person of any age from drowning- it is being smart around water. Not only does this swimming program include swimming lessons, but also a water safety component. For more information on water safety, visit Red Cross Splashes into Summer Safety page.
Swimming lessons are available for campers staying in the park, as well as local residents around the park area (Sutton). For more details on the program, contact the park directly at 905.722.8061
Throw the water wings away and enjoy a wing free swim on the beautiful beach at Sibbald Point this summer!
Ontario Parks and Red Cross wish you a safe and splash-tastic summer!
