Ontario Parks has been honoured with a Marketing Award of Excellence from the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation. Ontario Parks Learn to Camp program won ”best tourism marketing partnership”, which recognizes the achievements of tourism stakeholders that develop a successful partnership with a non-traditional retailer, packaged good company or service provider. In this case, Learn to Camp has several partnerships, which have been instrumental in the success of the Learn to Camp program.
Learn to Camp has been supported by Coleman Canada as the title sponsor, since the program launched in 2011. Coleman’s support of Learn to Camp ensures all program participants have a Coleman tent, air mattress, chair, stove, flatware, and just about anything else you can think of to complete a camping experience. In addition, Canadian Tire has partnered with Learn to Camp as our retail sponsor providing additional products and resources to round out a positive experience for visitors. Other supporting partners like SC Johnson OFF, Swish Maintenance, and Parkbus also support Learn to Camp.
Learn to Camp was also a recipient of the Innovator of the Year Award from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario in 2013.
If you are new to camping, this program is the perfect match for your family. You choose one of the nine participating Ontario Parks and you are able to partake in a guided overnight experience, where we provide all the camping equipment required. Our curriculum covers all the basic skills of camping and offers an introduction to fun and exciting camping activities. From the time you sign up to the time you leave, you are given assistance and learn the skills you need to have a successful camping trip.
“Our Learn to Camp program is helping us introduce camping to a whole new generation. Since 2011, we have trained almost 10,000 people at overnight camping experiences. I am proud to be working with a group of amazing partners who play an instrumental role in making this program a success.” Jeff Brown, Learn to Camp Coordinator.
Learn to Camp with their great partners have been so successful, 99% of the participants say they are likely to refer family and friends and >97% are satisfied with the experience. This is what one participant had to say about the program, “I will say here that this experience was one of the best of my life. Having people from all walks of life coming together to learn about something that is so quintessentially Canadian. Going camping can be a very daunting thought. This program really provided the confidence to do more in Ontario’s parks. I have and will continue to talk about this program to anyone who will listen. I think it’s an important program and a noble cause.”
