Southeastern Ontario
Darlington Provincial Park

On Sunday morning, join special guests as we band songbirds and release them to continue their migration. The “early bird” sees the most birds!
Darlington offers a beautiful stretch of sandy beach, perfect for swimming, on the shores of Lake Ontario. The sheltered waters of McLaughlin Bay are ideal for canoes and paddle boats.
Darlington is less than 1 hour from Toronto, 2 hours from Kingston and 20 minutes from Oshawa.
Voyageur Provincial Park

Voyageur has four sandy beaches on the Ottawa River. Since Voyageur is located on the reservoir of the Carillon Dam, the Ottawa River portion of the park is wide and more lake-like in nature. With no rapids or whitewater, canoeing can be a safe and somewhat leisurely activity. The park has many small bays and inlets where visitors can explore and view wildlife.
Voyageur is 1 hour from Ottawa and Montreal.
Southwestern Ontario
Wheatley Provincial Park

This weekend is Wheatley’s 19th Annual Kids Fishing Derby! Kids love to dip their lines and see what they can catch (borrow equipment free from the TackleShare program).
Campgrounds are situated among a tangle of creeks in a beautifully wooded Carolinian forest. The park sits on a major migratory bird route and provides excellent bird-watching.
Wheatley is 1 hour from Detroit, Windsor and London.
Earl Rowe Provincial Park

Enjoy daily programming, including free Learn to Fish lessons. Spend the day swimming, whether in the lakes or in Earl Rowe’s one-acre swimming pool.
Earl Rowe is only 1.5 hours from Toronto, or 45 minutes from Barrie.
Near North / Central Ontario
Halfway Lake Provincial Park

Halfway Lake Provincial Park hosts its annual Astronomy Star Party this weekend! Join nightly sky-gazing events. Sky maps and telescopes provided.
This family-oriented campground boasts two buoyed beaches, great swimming and terrific fishing.
Halfway Lake is 1 hour north of Sudbury.
Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park

The park’s natural heritage education staff provides interactive programming suitable for all ages. Visitors can even try their hand at paddling a replica Voyageur canoe. The refreshing, clear waters of Moore Lake provide a relaxing way to spend a warm summer day.
Samuel de Champlain is 40 minutes east of North Bay, and 3.5-4 hours from Toronto or Ottawa.
Northeastern Ontario
Restoule Provincial Park

Waterfront site alert!!!
Paddle along the base of the Stormy Lake Bluffs, or hike to the top for a view of the local landscape. More than 90 species of birds frequent the waters and forests of Restoule including, peregrine falcons, bald eagles and osprey.
Note: we’ve featured a waterfront site, but if you need more space, Restoule’s got a variety of campsites free this weekend!
Restoule is an hour south of North Bay, and 2 hours north of Orillia.
Esker Lakes Provincial Park

Join staff at 1:00 pm this Saturday to tag some butterflies and help our endangered species. This is your chance to be a researcher and make a real difference!
Esker Lakes lies within the vast Boreal Forest that covers much of Northern Ontario. The collection of picturesque lakes in Esker Lakes Provincial Park, separated by short, fairly level portages and no motorboats, makes the park ideal for canoeing.
Esker Lakes is an hour from Rouyn-Noranda, 2.5 hours from Val d’Or, and 4 hours from Sudbury.
Northwestern Ontario
Caliper Lake Provincial Park

Waterfront site alert!!!
The peaceful waters of Caliper Lake offer a relaxing option for a day of canoeing. A large beach and sectioned off swimming area make swimming a favourite activity at Caliper Lake. Enjoy the warm, shallow water and floating swim platform.
Note: Caliper Lake also has lots of electrical sites available!
Caliper Lake is an hour from Fort Frances and 4 hours from Winnipeg.
White Lake Provincial Park

White Lake is a very large lake and motorboats are an ideal way to explore it. A fish cleaning station with power and lights, a cold beverage machine, paved boat launch (lit at night) and a dock for boat launching provides anglers with services to enhance their fishing opportunities. Canoes are available for rent at the park.
White Lake is 4 hours from Sault Ste Marie and Thunder Bay.
