How to keep your brain healthy this summer

Summer is without a doubt the best time to get outside and play. There’s so much to do like hiking, cycling, or paddling.

It is also the perfect time to take charge of our brain health. We often hear that being active is great for our heart and muscles, but let’s not forget what it can do for our brain. Exercise helps protect our brain cells and encourages the growth of new ones by boosting levels of growth factors called neurotrophins.

Algonquin Artist in Residency program – call for submissions!

In partnership with the Algonquin Art Centre, Algonquin Provincial Park is excited to announce the launch of the 2018 Artist in Residency program.

This program allows artists working in various areas (visual, literary, media arts) to spend time in the heart of Algonquin’s beautiful wilderness — working on their projects, collaborating with park researchers, and participating in art outreach opportunities at the park Visitor Centre and the Algonquin Art Centre.

Summer bioblitzes at Algonquin

In honour of our 125th anniversary, our oldest provincial park, Algonquin, is hosting a bioblitz series!
