This season, we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the Friends of Bonnechere Parks and Wheelchair Friendly Solutions Inc. to provide increased access and participation for all Park users. Our goal is to create an atmosphere of respect, dignity, equality, and independence, which is welcoming to everyone, regardless of ability. 

We need your help! On Saturday June 2nd, from 8:30-3:30, come out to Bonnechere Provincial Park to assist us with the following tasks; 

-enhanced beach assess route

-outdoors public eating space

-designated parking spaces

-wireless alert system installation

-ramps and matting

-barrier-free vault privy washrooms

A healthy BBQ lunch will be provided- we just ask volunteers to bring their own water and snacks. Looking forward to seeing you here!

Canada Day Celebrations July 1, 2018 July 1, 2018 The Davenport Centre

Come out and celebrate Canada’s birthday with fun for everyone: face painting, games and prizes! In the evening, plan to take in the fireworks display at nearby Killaloe.

10:00am- 12:00 pm Come on down to the Davenport Centre and get your face painted for Canada Day!

10:00am- 12:00 pm Test your colouring skills and enjoy the new display center with our colouring pages!

10:00am- 12:00 pm Have you got the skills to land the creatures in the pond, come test it out, it’s a bean bag toss!

1:00pm Canada Bingo, let the fun begin and see if you can win!!

Local artist Kim Hanewich will lead free drawing sessions for campers and day-use visitors. Express yourself through charcoal and pencil, surrounded by the natural beauty of Bonnechere Provincial Park. Starting at 10:00 am at the Davenport Centre.

Archaeology Day July 14, 2018 July 14, 2018 The Davenport Centre

Celebrate the history of archaeology in and around Bonnechere Park. Participate in mock archaeology excavations where children play the role of archaeologist. At the pot-building station participants are guided through the process of creating a coil pot of their own. The showcase will feature artifacts recovered at various local archaeological excavations over the past 20 years. Guest speakers will provide further insight. Begins @ 10:00AM

Little Rays Reptile Zoo July 28, 2018 July 28, 2018 Davenport Centre

Endangered Ontario! Come out to this live interactive presentation all about Ontario’s wildlife and how to protect them. Don’t miss this opportunity to get up and close with these interesting critters from mammals to reptiles and birds too, it is sure to be a good time. Any donations to the Friends of Bonnechere Parks would be appreciated to keep presentations like this coming back! The presentation begins at 5PM.

Bike Rodeo August 18, 2018 August 18, 2018 The Davenport Centre

Celebrate active transportation! Join Park staff in cooperation with the Killaloe OPP detachment, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Auxillary and the Renfrew County District Health Unit. Learn more about bike safety and maintenance, then practice your hand signals on a specially built course meant to test your bike-safety and ability. Afterwards, have fun decorating your bike and join us on a parade around the Park! Event begins at 10:30am.

Come join us at the Davenport Centre to hear the amazing David Archibald in concert! On Thursday, August 23rd he will be making a pit-stop at Bonnechere on his Ontario Parks tour in celebration of Ontario Parks 125th anniversary! It will not be a concert to miss! Concert begins at 7PM.

Wolf Howl August 25, 2018 August 25, 2018 Meet at the Davenport Centre

Wolf Howl, 25th Anniversary Edition!

Mike Runtz, one of Canada’s most highly respected naturalists, nature photographers and natural history authors, returns once more to lead the annual Bonnechere Park Wolf Howl. Meet at the Davenport Centre for a compelling multi-media presentation on the Eastern Wolf. Then, travel via car pool along the Bonnechere Road to Basin Depot, where Mike will call out to the wolves. With luck, the wolves will return his howls. Join us this year for our special anniversary of the Wolf Howl! Program begins at 7pm.
