Phil the Forecaster presents, "Tom Thomson was a Weatherman" September 1, 2017 September 1, 2017 Davenport Centre

Come out to the Davenport Centre to explore the past and art of Group of 7 member, Tom Thomson! Weather was the inspiration for much of the art of Tom Thomson. Tom painted lots of weather phenomena. Throughout the evening it will become evident that Tom was indeed a “weatherman” through “Creative Scene Investigation”. CSI is the application of meteorology as well as other forensic sciences, to creative works. The deductions are sleuthed from the details which are plainly hidden within the art. The motivation behind the art was not secret at the time of the painting but they are unintelligible to those not versed in forensic meteorology.

Tom was a remarkable observer of the natural world. The hidden agenda in this fun and interactive presentation is to celebrate the genius of Tom Thomson as an artist through the weather that inspired him.

Presentation begins at 8:00pm
