It has come to our attention that there may be some misunderstanding related to a requirement to confirm the measurements of your cottage lot structures. Within the package that we sent to all cottagers was the report Algonquin Cottage Lease Inventory Summary of Findings and within that the Structures Associated to Cottage Lot which we have asked cottagers to complete and return to us. Some cottagers have interpreted the information to mean that they need to confirm the measurements of their cottage lot structures. Ontario Parks would like to confirm that cottagers DO NOT need to measure their structures to complete and return this report. You should be able to confirm all the information from the report without going to your cottage lot.
Our intention with the Structures Associated to Cottage Lot portion of that report was to clarify information for each structure as they related to:
Measurements were provided to help the cottager confirm which structure is being referred to. The size of each structure will be properly measured during the survey. Our measurements were limited to the maximum length and width which will does not adequately reflect the size or area of buildings with an irregular shape. The area of structures will be calculated by the measurements done by the surveyor for the purposes of maximum footprints etc.
In re-reviewing the material Ontario Parks understands where there is some confusion in whether we were asking cottagers to go out and measure their buildings before January. This was not our intent and we apologise for the confusion.
If you have any further questions regarding this report and what you have been asked to verify, please contact the cottage lot team at email@example.com or 705-645-7436.
