Dog walking on beach with family

The “dog” days of summer

Interested in camping or daytripping with your pup? We’ve got a great list of dog friendly spots!

At Ontario Parks, we love dogs. Our four-legged friends even carried a spot on our #30x30Challenge (and we LOVED seeing pictures of your tail-wagging nature buddies!).

It’s important to remember, though, that not everyone is comfortable with your pup, and that loose dogs can injure wildlife.

We ask dog owners to be respectful to nature and their fellow park-goers by:

  • dog walking on leashkeeping dogs on a leash no longer than 2 metres (6 feet) unless in an off-leash area
  • keeping dogs out of swimming areas, comfort stations and roofed accommodation sites
  • preventing dogs from damaging or disturbing park vegetation and wildlife
  • not leaving dogs unattended or allow it to make excessive noise
  • picking up after your pup’s waste (stoop and Scoop bags are available at most gatehouses)
