Ever since I was a little girl, the great outdoors has been tied to so many incredible memories, including hiking with friends, swimming in the lake with my cousins, fishing with my grandparents. Heck, I even worked at summer camps for nine years throughout high school and university. So, naturally (pun intended), the 30×30 Challenge sounded right up my alley!
Time in nature has been proven to lead to better sleep, improved productivity, lower stress, increased self-esteem, better mood, lower blood pressure, a stronger immune system, and a lower risk of diabetes and heart attack. The research is clear: spending time in nature improves our physical, mental, and social well-being.
Imagine how much your health and happiness could improve if you spent quality time outdoors every day for a whole month. This is what the 30×30 Challenge is all about. Sounds like a great way to get healthy!
Head outside to a green space and spend 30 minutes reconnecting with nature and improving your health. Nature can be as close as the park down the street or found in one of Ontario’s more than 300 provincial parks.
In today’s busy society, it’s easy to tune out our senses and forget about the natural environment around us. Being regularly immersed in natural settings can make you feel happier, healthier and more relaxed.
This August, Ontario Parks challenges you to spend 30 minutes in nature each day for 30 days.
During August, Ontario Parks is challenging Ontarians to join the 30×30 Challenge by spending 30 minutes a day in nature for 30 days. We hope you spend your nature time at your favourite provincial park but you will reap benefits from any time in nature anywhere.
