Ontario Parks Helps to Save Lives with Mountain Equipment Co-op

Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) has been a dedicated partner with Ontario Parks for almost ten years and for the 2008 season they have extended their hand in helping to save lives. This year, Ontario Parks is proud to announce that MEC is partnering with us in our Life Jacket Lending Program.

The Ontario Parks Life Jacket Lending Program was established in 1997 at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. The goal of this program is to reduce the risk of drowning or injury with water activities at provincial parks. With the help and support of Canadian Red Cross, park visitors (for a small refundable deposit) can borrow a life jacket. Children and adult sizes are available.

Today, the program is used in more than 50 provincial parks and has been exposed to over ten million park visitors.

Please remember to wear your life jacket when participating in water activities!
