New park users just can’t get enough of the camping scene with Ontario Parks’ new Learn to Camp program launched this summer.
A few words from one of our newest campers at Bronte Creek Provincial Park:
“We would like to put on record, our deepest appreciation of the fantastic experience we had in “Learn to Camp” at Bronte Creek campground. We loved every second of it. Our Camp leader Dave and his assistant Robin were simply perfect. Dave is an exceptional leader with a great sense of humour. Every session he conducted was of A grade professional quality. He made the instructions look so easy that by the time we left the camp, we felt like pros who have been doing camping for several years. Everyone in the group felt his passion and sincerity for camping. No offense to other guys n gals who are running the show at other parks but we are just glad that we opted where Dave was. We also had a visit from Dave, the park superintendent, a man with lots of experience and a great personality. We were also lucky to have a very nice group of fellow first-time campers.
We have tried to think of any other experience in Canada managed by other govt. agencies and NO ONE, not a single program comes close to “learn to camp” initiative. Come to think of it, even multiple agencies put together won’t be able to produce a program like this. Right from the first email we recd. till we folded our tents, it was flawless. It’s the kind of teamwork most organizations just dream of.
We feel lucky to have been part of this program that is far beyond value for money. We hope that you will make this a permanent program so more families get introduced to camping in this cost effective way. As for ourselves, we’d hope that next year, maybe you can launch a Learn to Camp 2.0 so that we can learn Countryside/ deeper area camping.
Thanks to your program, we are now hooked for life to camping”.
