On Wednesday, December 16th, 2009, the Olympic torch passed through Curve Lake, Ontario. DJ Fife, a 1st year Aboriginal Youth Work Exchange participant at Petroglyphs Provincial Park, was given the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch into the community where it was received by the Chief, community elders and MPP Jeff Leal. A drumming ceremony and community celebration followed, before the torch continued on its journey to the 2010 Olympic site.
Not only has the torch stopped at Petroglyphs Provincial Park, but it will also be making stops in Halfway Lake, Mississagi, Pancake Bay, Lake Superior, Obatanga and Kakabeka Falls Provincial Parks. Follow the Olympic Torch relay by viewing the interactive map.
