Northeastern Ontario
Nagagamisis Provincial Park
This campsite is just steps from the park’s beautiful sandy beach where you can relax and swim all day in the clear water. Use the park as a jump-off point for challenging canoe routes on the Nagagami and Shekak Rivers. Anglers return year after year to this large secluded lake, drawn by the excellent fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Yellow Perch.
Nagagamisis is 4.5 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie or 4.5 hours west of Timmins
Wakami Lake Provincial Park
This waterfront campsite is nestled in the forest on the shoreline of Wakami Lake. Discover pitcher plants and sundew on the park’s hiking trails, or rent a kayak and explore by water.
Did you know that Wakami Lake is one of Ontario Parks’ undiscovered fishing hotspots?
Wakami Lake is 4 hours from Sault Ste Marie, and 5 hours from Sudbury.
Northwestern Ontario
Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park
Kakabeka Falls is the second highest waterfall in Ontario with year-round access for viewing. The park offers excellent views of the falls and gorge from the boardwalk that wraps around the top of the falls.
Kakabeka Falls is 30 minutes from Thunder Bay.
Rushing River Provincial Park
Rushing River is a favourite family camping destination with beaches, playgrounds, hiking trails and endless opportunities for exploring.
Rushing River is 2.5 hours from Winnipeg.
Near North
Six Mile Lake Provincial Park
This wonderful family campground contains landscapes that have inspired painters. The park is ideal for paddlers of all ability levels, and canoes are available for rent at the park store. Three hiking trails offer visitors the opportunity to take in the natural and cultural heritage of Six Mile Lake.
Six Mile Lake is less than 2 hours from Toronto, and 40 minutes from Barrie.
Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park

The park’s cozy cabins are perfect for when it gets a little cooler at night. Paddlers and boaters can enjoy a scenic tour of Sturgeon Bay, or (if more experienced) head out onto Georgian Bay.
Anglers love Shawanaga Bay, a huge inlet reaching inland from Georgian Bay with hundreds of islands and lots of underwater structures that fish like to hang out around.
Sturgeon Bay is 3 hours from Toronto, and 1.5 hours from Sudbury.
Southeastern Ontario
Charleston Lake Provincial Park

Need a quiet escape? Located on the eastern shore of Charleston Lake, this rustic cabin is water access only. There is no electrical service at this cabin, but solar-powered interior lights are provided and there is a composting outhouse is nearby.
Charleston Lake is under 1 hour from Kingston, 2 hours from Ottawa, and 3 hours from Toronto.
Emily Provincial Park
The wide Pigeon River offers excellent canoeing for beginners, and canoes can be rented at the gatehouse. Many unique frogs and birds can be found in the wetland along the river and along the boardwalk. Head out exploring to see wetland wildlife in their natural home.
Emily is just outside Peterborough, only 1 hour from Oshawa, and 2 hours from Toronto.
Southwestern Ontario
Sauble Falls Provincial Park
This waterfall used to power a timber mill and generating station. Now flanked by immature forest, the falls are the end of the Rankin River canoe route, ideal for novice canoeists (rentals available). Sauble Falls is the perfect base camp for exploring the Bruce Peninsula.
Sauble Falls is 3 hours from Toronto, and 2 hours from Barrie.
Inverhuron Provincial Park
Prized for its sandy beach, dunes and glorious sunsets, this diverse park also includes a wetland and a young hardwood forest. Located on the shores of Lake Huron, Inverhuron is steeped in history.
Inverhuron is 3 hours from Toronto, and 2 hours from London.
