Memories in March - Get Outdoors at Pinery March 10, 2018 March 18, 2018 Start your discovery at the Visitor Centre where you can obtain park information, orientation, answers to your questions and plan your stay at Pinery.

Memories start at Pinery this March during the school holiday. Experience the best of Pinery in the colder months by starting your discovery at the Visitor Centre which will be open daily 10-5 from March 10th to March 18th. Pick up a Scavenger Hunt sheet at the Visitor Centre, and set out on an adventure of discovery throughout the park! Completed Scavenger Hunts can be redeemed at the Visitor Centre before 5PM each day during March Break. The Visitor Centre also offers exhibits, an indoor theatre featuring nature documentaries, park naturalist staff, washrooms and the Friends of Pinery Park Nature Store. Naturalist staff are offering a variety of guided hikes, Ask-the-Naturalist chats and chickadee programs throughout the week and weekends. Please check our winter ski conditions report for updates about skiing, snowshoeing, skating and other winter services. In milder weather, one of Pinery’s many trails is the perfect location for a healthy walk or quiet solitude. Bring your camera, a picnic lunch, art supplies, family and friends and work on that rosy glow on your cheeks. Consider an overnight stay in a tent, trailer or one of our roofed accommodation options!

Join Park Naturalists, Conservation Officers, The Friends of Pinery and other partners to celebrate Parks Day in Canada in the largest remaining parcel of Oak Savanna in Canada. Spend one of the best weekends in summer showing your love for your favourite park; Events will be run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup September 15, 2018 September 15, 2018 In 2018, we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup in Canada. You can make a world of a difference by joining Canadians from coast to coast to coast to clean up shoreline litter. Meet at the Pinery Visitor Centre to start the day, where gloves and garbage bags will be provided. Dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen, and consider wearing insect repellent to combat biting flies. Please pre-register by calling 519 243 8574. Visit for more details.  For high school aged students, this is a great way to work towards completing your community service hours and for everyone else, this is a great way to give back to the park and ensure our shorelines are kept devoid of human litter.
Dune Grass Restoration October 13, 2018 November 30, 2018

We need your help to restore Pinery’s fragile Freshwater Coastal Dunes! Assist with rolling boardwalk storage, dune grass transplantation and other initiatives to protect this rare and fragile component of Ontario’s Biodiversity. Dune grass can only be transplanted after it becomes dormant following several killing frosts. Pinery Fall Classic October 14, 2018 October 14, 2018 Event registration, start and finish lines at the Park Store.

Jog your way through the Oak Savanna and help support Pinery through the Friends of Pinery Park. You can participate in the 10 km, 5 km, or 2 km road race, or the trail run (approx. 4.8 km); there is even a Fawn Run for kids (250 m).  Please go to for more information and registration.  

Halloween Weekend October 19, 2018 October 21, 2018 Visitor Centre and Riverside Campground

Experience autumn camping in Riverside Campground with a spooky theme! Join park naturalists throughout the weekend for special Halloween themed interpretive programming. Learn to differentiate between spooky myths and facts; decorate your campsite (no outside plants, hay or straw and please respect the park environment by ensuring ALL decorations are removed upon vacating your site); participate in campground trick-or-treating or decorate a scarecrow using natural objects from your campsite to profile one of Pinery’s interpretive themes - prizes will be awarded for the best scarecrow!  You can learn more about Pinery interpretive themes by speaking to a Park Naturalist, attending a program throughout the year or by calling the Pinery Visitor Centre at 519-243-8574.

Christmas Bird Count December 15, 2018 December 15, 2018 Pinery and surrounding area

Join birdwatchers for this incredible day of winter birding! Please contact the Visitor Centre to obtain more information by calling 519-243-8574.  This event requires being able to tolerate cold conditions for prolonged periods as surveying takes place outdoors beginning before dawn for owls and continues until late afternoon.  If snowy conditions prevail, hiking in snow or using snow-shoes may be required.  If you are interested in participating, please contact the Visitor Centre early to learn more about the day, to share your birding experience level and to get a better understanding of how you can assist with this Citizen Science Program!
