Fire Bans

There is a fire ban A Restricted Fire Zone is in effect for this Provincial Park due to extremely dry forest conditions.

During a Restricted Fire Zone, the use of open fires – such as campfires (including if using an outdoor fire grate, fireplace or fire pit) and portable charcoal barbeques and hibachis are not permitted.

Portable gas or propane cooking stoves are still permitted.

Park Advisories

Obabika River Provincial Park is now open.

Be advised if your route includes Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, the following lakes, portages and campsites remain closed. Makobe-Grays River Provincial Park remains closed.

Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park – Open with the following exceptions.
1. Hobart Lake, Tupper Lake, Maple Mountain hiking trail, Old Bill Lake, Bessie Lake, Inez Lake, Anvil Lake, Hammer Lake and their portages and campsites remain closed until further notice.
2. Trethewey Lake, Elissa Creek, all basins of Makobe Lake, Banks Lake, Grays Lake, Grays River, Graymud Lake, Bercole Lake and their portages and campsites remain closed until further notice.
Note: These restrictions for Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park are in place to protect the public and ensure public safety while allowing fire personnel to safely fight forest fires in the identified areas.
