Biscotasi Lake

Biscotasi Lake Provincial Park

Backcountry Camping

1. The Experience:

Biscotasi Lake is an island-studded lake with excellent paddling, small motorboat opportunities, and fishing. It is accessible by train through VIA Rail or by vehicle by way of logging roads.

Campsites are scattered around the lake, with some on large and remote islands. The dam at the outlet of the lake begins the adventure down the Spanish River, with a portage leading to the west branch of the Spanish River.

Campsites are marked, with a firepit and box privy on each site. A boat launch is available at the Biscotasi General Store (the west branch) for a fee.

2. Reservations and Interior Camping Permits

Camping reservations are not available at this park. All campsites are first-come, first-served.

Interior camping permits are required for backcountry camping at Biscotasi Lake Provincial Park. Permits can be purchased online up to two weeks in advance of your arrival date.

Permits may also be purchased at Chutes, Windy Lake and Halfway Lake Provincial Parks, and some local permit issuers. For a complete list of local issuers please contact the park office.

3. Trip Planning

A Spanish River map which includes Biscotasi Lake, is available for purchase online. Biscotasi Lake maps can be purchased at Chutes Provincial Park.

There is a ban on cans and glass bottles at Biscotasi Lake.
