Baking can be done directly over the fire or stove using a dutch oven -- a thick, cast iron pot with a tight fighting cast iron lid. You can also bake root vegetables, fruit and even bread in the embers of a fire. Wrap your roots or fruit individually in tin foil and bury them into the hot embers. Dig them up an hour or two later, depending on the size, and you’ve got yourself an awesome camp side dish. Quick breads can be baked in tin cans buried in a similar fashion.
