The Spanish River Valley Minitigoziibi Signature Site winds its way through a rugged landscape of granite ridges, enduring forests and extensive wetlands with the Spanish River at the center of this incredible park. The river is a combination of large and small lakes and whitewater with many rapids of varying degrees of difficulty. While the northern portion of the park is coniferous in nature with large stands of White and Red Pine, Deciduous trees such as Silver and Sugar Maples dominate the lower portions of the park and can be found around the Agnew Lake area. Many species of fish such as Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Brook Trout inhabit the many lakes and tributaries along the river. The valley is also home to Moose, Black Bear, River Otter and many other mammals. The park supports abundant bird life living in the forests and along the river. Osprey, Bald Eagles, Belted Kingfishers, Black & White warblers and Oven Birds to name a few.
