Lake Superior Coastline

The following rules apply for all reservations:

  • Multiple reservations in the same name for the same time period are not allowed. Reservations must be made in the name of the person who is arriving to pick up the camping permit. Reservations cannot be assigned from one person to another person at the time of arrival; this is contrary to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. If a name change is required, please contact 1-888-668-7275, the $10.50 change fee (call centre) or $8.50 change fee (Internet) will be applicable for this service. This policy does not apply to Interior/Backcountry reservations made for Quetico Prov. Park where party leader name and second contact name cannot be changed.
  • There is a NON-REFUNDABLE fee of $11.00 for each internet reservation made and $13.00 for Call Centre assisted reservations, which is payable at the time your reservation is confirmed.
  • Bookings will be accepted up to 5 months in advance of your arrival, which means campers can call on November 1, 2009 to make a reservation for April 1, 2010, or for example February 1, 2010 for July 1, 2010.
  • Reservations cannot be changed or cancelled more than 4 months in advance of your arrival.
  • Payment by Visa, MasterCard, Amex, cheque or money orders; for Internet Reservations, payment by Visa, MasterCard or Amex only.
  • Canadian cheques and money orders must be in Canadian funds. Cheques drawn on US banks will be deposited in US funds; please calculate the currency exchange prior to issuing the cheque. NSF/cancelled cheques will void your reservation immediately and subject to a $35.00 administration fee.
  • Cheques and money orders must be received within 14 days of making your reservation to confirm your campsite, and at least 21 days prior to your arrival date for cheques and 10 days prior to your arrival date for money orders. Your campsite cannot be guaranteed until your payment arrives. There is a chance that your specific site will be changed to another site. Mail cheques and money orders for confirmed reservations to:

  • For administrative changes such as changes to name and campsite number, the $10.50 (call centre) or $8.50 (internet) change fee will be applicable.
  • To cancel or change a reservation, call 1-888-ONT-PARK (668-7275), or go on-line at www.ontarioparks.com. For cancellations or to shorten your stay a penalty (10-50%) will be charged based on how long your reservation has been held or a minimum penalty of $10.50 or $8.50 will be charged. For example, if your reservation has been held for 1 month or less, a penalty of 10% will apply, more than 1 month up to 2 months - 20%, more than 2 months up to 3 months - 30%, etc. to a maximum of 50%.
  • All 77 parks that offer reservations also offer some campsites on a first-come, first served basis. There are another 11 provincial parks that accept campers on a first-come, first-served basis only. For an updated campground vacancy report, call 1- 800-ONTARIO (668-2746) during July and August or visit the Ontario Parks website (www.OntarioParks.com).
  • The fee for one vehicle is included in your campsite permit - all other vehicles must purchase an "Additional Vehicle Permit" at the time of registration. The number of additional vehicles permitted on a campsite is limited by the park and vehicles may have to be parked in a separate designated "parking lot" located away from your campsite.

Alcohol Ban Information

NOTE: Alcohol is not permitted in the following Provincial Parks on Victoria Day and the preceding ten days (May 10 to May 20, 2013 inclusive).

Specific instructions for:

  • Car-Camping Reservations
    • To make a Site Specific Reservation, where a particular campsite is booked, payment of all fees is required at the time of booking.
    • For a Random (Non-prepaid) Campsite Reservation, where a campsite is guaranteed, only the reservation fee is collected at the time of booking.
    • Payment by cheque or money order for Random (Non-prepaid) Campsite Reservations must include the reservation fee plus payment of all fees at the time of booking.
    • A campsite can be reserved for a minimum of one night and a maximum of 23 nights.
    • Reservations can be made up to 8:00pm on your day of arrival, for most parks.
    • Reservations are only held until 8am the day following your scheduled arrival date. Reservations not claimed by this time will be considered a "no show".
    • No more than six people can occupy a campsite unless these people comprise a single-family group of parents, and their children.
    • Where space permits, you are allowed up to three pieces of shelter equipment plus one dining shelter/tarp on your campsite. Only one piece of shelter equipment can be a tent trailer, house trailer, motor home, or self-propelled camping unit.
    • Cancellations and changes to the arrival date must be made by 12:00 noon (EST) on the day of arrival. The applicable cancellation or change penalty (10-50%) will apply based on how long your reservation has been held. Reservations cancelled or changed after this time will be charged the “no show” fee.
    • A “no show” will result in the reservation being cancelled and a penalty of the first night’s camping fee, plus the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) for the other cancelled nights.  Please see the chart listing penalties that will apply displayed above.
    • For car campsites check in time is after 2:00pm, and check out time is before 2:00pm.

     

  • Backcountry/Interior Camping Reservations
    • Please call the park directly for trip planning advice (e.g. selecting a trail or route based on your level of expertise) before making a reservation.
    • Reservations can be made up to the day of arrival, except at Algonquin where reservations must be made one day in advance.
    • For interior reservations at Killarney there is a maximum of 4 nights on George, OSA, David and Killarney Lakes, within the entire reservation period. For example, if your booking is 18 nights, only 4 nights can be on each of these lakes.
    • At the time of reservation, a deposit of $50.00 as well as the reservation fee is required. This includes reservations for backcountry cabins in Algonquin Park, except for the Rain Lake, Brent and Kiosk cabins (please see below). The exception to this is Quetico where a $100.00 deposit, plus the $13.00 reservation fee will be required. For Kawartha Highlands, full payment is required at time of reservation.
    • For cancellations or to shorten your length of stay for backcountry and Algonquin backcountry cabin reservations (except for Rain Lake, Brent and Kiosk cabins), the cancellation or change penalty will be the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) based on how long the reservation has been held, applied to your deposit. The $13.00 non refundable reservation fee is not included in this calculation.
    •  
    • Cancellations or changes to the arrival date can be made up to 12:00 noon (EST) on the day of arrival except for Quetico where cancellations or changes must be made by 12:00 noon (EST) three days in advance of your arrival. The applicable cancellation or change penalty (10-50%) will apply based on how long your reservation has been held. Late cancellations or changes after this time will be charged the "no show" fee.
    • A "no show" for backcountry and Algonquin backcountry cabins (except for Rain Lake, Brent and Kiosk cabins) reservations will result in the reservation being cancelled and a penalty of the first night’s car campsite fee ($37.01), plus the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) for the remaining cancelled nights. Please see the chart listing penalties that will apply displayed above.
    • For cancellations or to shorten your length of stay for reservations for Rain Lake, Brent and Kiosk cabins in Algonquin Park, the cancellation or change penalty will be the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) based on how long the reservation has been held, applied to the full value of the accommodation fee. The $13.00 non refundable reservation fee is not included in this calculation. Please see the chart listing penalties that will apply displayed above.
    • Cancellations or changes to the arrival date can be made up to 12:00 noon (EST) on the day of arrival. The applicable cancellation or change penalty (10-50%) will apply based on how long your reservation has been held. Late cancellations or changes after this time will be charged the "no show" fee.
    • A "no show" for Rain Lake, Brent and Kiosk cabins will result in the reservation being cancelled and a penalty of the first night’s accommodation fee, plus the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) applied to the full value of the accommodation fee for the remaining nights.
    • Maximum party size for interior camping is nine persons per permit. (Killarney hiking trail, Frontenac, Bon Echo, and Charleston Lake allow a maximum of six).
    • Reservations are only held until 8am (EST) the day following your scheduled arrival date.  Reservations not claimed by this time will be considered a "no show".
    • The maximum length of stay on any one interior campsite is 16 consecutive nights.
    • Algonquin's backcountry cabins may be rented for one night (or more).
    • For Algonquin's backcountry cabins check in time is after 2:00pm, and check out time is before 12:00 noon.
    • Discount fees for Ontario Seniors and Ontario Disabled Persons do not apply to Algonquin's backcountry cabins.

     

  • Roofed Accommodation Reservations
    (only yurts are available through the Internet Reservation Service)
    • For rustic cabins and cottages a deposit of 50% of the accommodation fee, plus the $13.00 reservation fee are required at the time of reservation. For yurts and Algonquin's backcountry cabins all fees will be required when the reservation is made, in addition to the non refundable $13.00 or $11.00 reservation fee.
    • For cancellations or to shorten your length of stay for rustic cabins, yurts and cottages, the cancellation or change penalty will be the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) based on how long the reservation has been held, applied to the full value of the accommodation fee. The $13.00 or $11.00 non-refundable reservation fee is not included in the calculation. Please see the chart listing penalties that will apply displayed above.
    • Cancellations or changes to the arrival date can be made up to 12:00 noon (EST) on the day of arrival. The applicable cancellation or change penalty (10-50%) will apply based on how long your reservation has been held. Late cancellations or changes after this time will be charged the “no show” fee.
    • A "no show" for rustic cabins, yurts and cottages will result in the reservation being cancelled and a penalty of the first night’s accommodation fee, plus the applicable percentage penalty (10-50%) applied to the full value of the accommodation fee for the remaining nights. Please see the chart listing penalties that will apply displayed above.
    • Reservations are only held until 8am (EST) the day following your schedule arrival date. Reservations not claimed by this time will be considered a "no show".
    • In the peak season, rustic cabins and cottages are rented for one-week minimum (Saturday to Saturday inclusive).
    • The maximum length of stay for rustic cabins and cottages is 14 consecutive nights.
    • Yurts are rented for a two-night minimum (3 nights on long weekends) ALL YEAR.
    • From Victoria Day until Thanksgiving a two-night minimum applies during weekdays at Bronte Creek, Bon Echo, Killarney, Pancake Bay, Pinery & Silent Lake. The two-night minimum during weekdays also applies during the winter at Killarney.
    • A security deposit will be requested at the park. The security deposit is refundable at check out subject to inspection. The security deposit is between $100 and $500.
    • For rustic cabins and cottages check in time will be after 3:00pm and check out time will be before 11:00am.
    • For yurts check in time is after 2:00pm, and check out time is before 12:00 noon.
    • Domestic Animals (pets) are NOT permitted in the facility or on the campsite and smoking is prohibited in all facilities. Cooking in yurts is not permitted.
    • Discount fees for Ontario Seniors and Ontario Disabled Persons do not apply to yurts, cabins, and cottages.
