Reservation Qs & As

Q1: How do I make a reservation for winter camping, either for a campsite or roofed accommodations?

A1: During the transition period (November 1 to early 2011) park users will not be able to make a reservation through our internet or call centre for any car camping or interior sites. For roofed accommodations only, you need to call the park directly. All campsites will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis when you arrive at the park. Since the transition period is during our slower winter months, we anticipate plenty of sites will be available for winter campers. You will not be able to book reservations five months in advance during the transition period.

Q2: Does this mean that I cannot make a reservation for the 2011 camping season until April 1, 2011?

A2: No this is not correct. During the transition period (November 1 to early 2011) park users will not be able to make a reservation through our internet or call centre for any car camping or interior sites for the 2011 camping season, but this is a temporary measure. We plan to go-live early in 2011.

You will not be able to book reservations five months in advance during the transition period. The new reservation system will be running in early 2011 and reservations will be accepted for the 2011 season, both on the internet and at a call centre. The five month window will be put back in place at this time. The transitional first-come first-serve system for campsites will only be in place until the new reservation system goes live.

Q3: If I want to go camping in July or August 2011, do I need to go directly to the park and hope that there is a campsite available? Will there be no pre-booking of campsites for the summer of 2011?

A3: There will be a reservation service in place in time to pre-book for campsites for the summer of 2011. It is only during the transition period (November 1 to early 2011), that you will not be able to book reservations five months in advance. The new reservation system will start operating in early 2011 and reservations will be accepted for the 2011 season, both on the internet and at a call centre. The five month window will be put back in place at this time. The transitional first-come first-serve system for campsites will only be in place until the new reservation system goes live.

Q4: Why does the reservation service have to be offline during the transitional period?

A4: The existing reservation system ended October 31st, 2010 and as of November 1, we have signed an agreement with a new service provider. It is important that the new service is fully tested and operational before it goes live in order to provide customers with the excellent service they deserve. To be clear – the transitional first-come, first-serve system for campsites will only be in place until the new reservation service goes live.

Q5: Will campsite and reservation fees go up as a result of switching to a new reservation service provider?

A5: No. Camping and reservation fees are not increasing for the 2011 camping season.

Q6. What contingency plans are in place until the new service provider is in place?

A6. There will be a transition period starting November 1st, during which time the new reservation service provider will start to develop their system. Until the new reservation service is in place there will be limitations on how you can make reservations. All existing reservations will be honoured and processed when you arrive at the park. You will not be able to book reservations five months in advance during this period. This means there will be no reservations processed for arrival dates after April 1, 2011 until we go-live with the new service provider. This applies to reservations for campsites, backcountry and roofed accommodations. Park users will not be able to make a reservation through our Internet or call centre for any car camping or interior sites. All campsites will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis when you arrive at the park. We anticipate plenty of sites will be available. You may book roofed accommodation at those parks open during the fall/winter period by calling the park directly. Reservations will be accepted for arrival dates up to March 31, 2011 only. Reservations can be made by phoning the park directly, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The parks that offer roofed accommodation are:
