Ontario Parks is updating its reservation service
Update: February 12, 2010
We are continuing to update information on our new campsite reservation service.
Quick Facts:
- All backcountry reservations must be made through the call centre and can not be made online. Previous requests for backcountry camping are now being processed and the call centre is returning calls in priority sequence. If you have made a previous backcountry reservation request, then a call centre agent will be contacting you to confirm your booking request. At that time your payment will be processed and you will receive a confirmation number.
- If you are calling now to make a new backcountry reservation, you may reach a voice mailbox rather than a live agent. If so, please leave your name and phone number. Our call centre agents are busy returning calls to previous backcountry requests, but your call will be answered in priority sequence.
- All campground maps are now on the internet reservation service. Significant improvements were made to the maps such as colour blind assistance tools, legend on the page and standard symbols.
- Group campsites can not be made online or through the call centre and must be booked by calling the park directly.
- Reservations can be booked five months in advance of your arrival date. Tip: The calendar date turns over at 7:00 a.m. each morning to coincide with the opening of the call centre.
- Reservations can also be made by speaking to one of our call centre operators at 1 888 ONT-PARK (1 888 668-7275). The call centre is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Our Frequently Asked Questions section is updated weekly. Just click on the link above for helpful tips in navigating the reservation site.
We are working hard to make improvements to the reservation service and we thank you for your continued support.
Update: December 10, 2009
On December 14, 2009, many of our Ontario Parks will be accepting campsite reservations for May 14, 2010.
We are making significant improvements to our campsite reservation service and are now updating campground maps. We are currently in transition as we upload these to the new website service. Please click here to check the map availability for your favourite park.
If your park does not have the campground map available, you can still make an on-line reservation by:
- Going to the reservation service at OntarioParks.com;
- Click "Make a Reservation" from the top menu;
- Fill in all your search criteria and click "Search by Grid".
The "Search by Grid" option is available for all parks open for reservations.
Reservations can also be made by speaking to one of our call centre operators at 1 888 ONT-PARK (1 888 668-7275). The call centre is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
November 1, 2009 Information
Ontario Parks is updating its campsite reservation system. When you go to make your reservation on-line or at our call centre you will notice a new look and many new improvements. There will be some changes from our previous service.
Here's what you need to know:
- We have obtained a new reservation service provider called Mediamix Interactive Incorporated (MMI). MMI has experience in providing campsite reservation services to several clients across Canada, and is located in Toronto, Ontario.
- Our phone number and web address will stay the same. You can continue to go to www.OntarioParks.com or 1-888-ONT-PARK (1-888-668-7275) to make your campsite reservation. The call centre hours will be slightly shorter - now from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm (as opposed to 11:00 pm). On-line reservations can still be made 24 hours/day, 365 days a year.
- If you are currently an Ontario Parks user and have made a reservation with us in the past, you will be receiving an email with your new temporary login and password which will allow you to update your account before making your campsite reservation.
- It will now cost less to make a reservation! The reservation fee will be reduced to $9.00 (savings of $3.00), and cancellations/changes to reservations will be reduced to $7.00 (savings of $2.00). There will be an even greater savings if the reservation is made on-line as it will only cost $8.00 to make a reservation and $5.00 to cancel or change a reservation.
- To assist you with navigating the reservation service options, we have set up a "Frequently Asked Questions" site available at the website link above.
- Over time, new enhancements to the reservation service will be made available such as adding campsite photos and an online shopping cart feature that holds your campsite for a short time while you get ready to pay for it.
- Save this web link for easy access as we will continue to update these pages with information about the new features as they are rolled out.
We hope you enjoy the new reservation experience. Please let us know what you think by sending us your comments here.
