One hundred years ago, this recreation
park was the site of a Victorian resort called Point Farm
Hotel. Today, the site is a recreation park combining a colourful
past with a pleasant, rural environment.
The park is perched atop the steep bluffs of the shoreline,
and offers a panoramic view of Lake Huron, 25 metres below.
Steep-sided gullies created by the water's erosive powers
further divide the park into distinct geological areas.
The gentle sand-and-pebble beach is perfect for swimming,
with water that is shallow and warm. Open fields broken by
hedgerows and orchards, are evidence of the former farms that
operated during and after the hotel's demise. There is also
a wooded area in the northwest part of the park. The countryside
supports many birds and small mammals, including cotton tail
rabbits.
