Algonquin Yurts

These semi-permanent canvas-covered structures are 16 feet in diameter, mounted on a wooden deck about two feet off the ground. Yurts can accommodate up to six people. They have two sets of bunk beds, a table and chairs, plywood floors, electric heat and lighting.

Algonquin Park has eight yurts in total. Seven are located in the Mew Lake Campground off of Hwy 60. The other is located at Achray Campground on the east side of the park.

All yurts are available for reservations online.

Amenities:
  • Yurts are equipped with two sets of bunk beds, each bunk has a vinyl cover futon mattress, with a single and double bed.
  • Table and 6 chairs.
  • Electric heat (except at Achray) and lighting (fluorescent).
  • Electrical outlet (110 v).(except at Achray)
  • Fire extinguisher, and smoke detector.
  • Shelving unit.
  • Broom and dustpan.
  • Propane barbecue, pots and pans, utensils (available ONLY from May to Thanksgiving.)
  • Pots, pans and utensils (available ONLY from May to Thanksgiving and ONLY at Mew Lake)
  • Picnic table.
  • Fire pit.
  • Snow shovel (except at Achray)
  • a 15 A duplex receptacle and a 30 A receptacle available at Mew sites only.
What to Bring:

Sleeping bags, flashlight, food, lantern, matches, drinking water. Appropriate cold weather gear for winter. If arriving after Thanksgiving or before May 1st, barbeque or cookstove and fuel, cooking and eating utensils, and a 50-100 foot extension cord to plug in your vehicle's block heater during the winter months.

Note: Domestic animals (pets) are NOT permitted in the facility or on site and smoking is prohibited in all facilities. Cooking in yurts is not permitted. Trailers are not permitted.
