Loon Lake Loop Trail 1
km loop (30 minutes) easy
This short, family-friendly trail, which includes part of the McParlan
House Trail, leads through mixed forest, including a small hemlock
stand, passes two diverse ponds and follows Loon Lake shoreline.
McParlan House Trail 2.5
km return (1 hour) easy to moderate
This popular trail leads you to the McParlan House, where displays
tell its history, and Burgess Sawmill. Along the way, look for signs
of glaciers, check out the interesting shoreline habitat and cross
a meandering creek.
Point Trail 5.5 km
return (2 hours) moderate
This trail loops around Murphys Point peninsula. It meanders through
forest to a sandy beach overlooking Big Rideau Lake where there
are picnic tables, toilets and change facilities.
Silver Queen Mine Trail 2.3
km return (1 hour) easy
Starting at the Lally Homestead, this trail crosses abandoned farm
fields to the Silver Queen Mine, a turn-of-the-century mica mine.
Before you start, sign up for a guided tour of the mine at the Gatehouse.
An interpretive trail guide, available at the beginning of the trail,
tells the mine's story.
Sylvan Trail 2.5
km (1.5 hours) moderate
This scenic trail winds through a mature hardwood forest typical
of southern Canadian Shield. Rugged and changing topography will
challenge hikers.
Rideau Trail 6.5
km (2.5 hours) moderate
This is just a small part of a 300-km trail that runs from Kingston
to Ottawa.
