The effective management of protected areas requires clear and relevant management direction. The Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 established the need for a new planning manual to guide the preparation of management direction for each provincial park and conservation reserve.
Management direction can be a management statement (less complex) or a management plan (more complex). It provides policy direction for protection, development and management of the values of protected areas.
The new Ontario Protected Areas Planning Manual has been approved. See the Environmental Registry for more information.
