Class Environmental Assessment
The Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves was approved by government in September 2004 and took effect on January 10, 2005.
The Class EA document describes the evaluation requirements and consultation processes that MNR follows for the different categories of projects. The Class EA was approved under the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA).
The types of projects described in the Class EA are:
- Carrying out projects related to the management of parks and conservation reserves, such as general operations, constructing facilities, and managing natural resources.
- Establishing, amending and rescinding boundaries for provincial parks and conservation reserves.
- Acquiring and disposing of land for a new or existing park or conservation reserve.
Through improved evaluation and consultation processes, the Class EA is expected to improve the management of provincial parks and conservation reserves.
