This park contains one of the few baymouth sandbars found along the western shoreline of Prince Edward County. The sandbar on which the park is located measures about 1200 m in length, and up to 200 m in width, sheltering North Bay from Lake Ontario.

The park is lined by the sandy shores of the sandbar, on both its bay and lake sides. The steep bay side is not recommended for young children and non-swimmers.
